International students are welcome to apply to the MRC Doctoral Degree Training Program in Precision Medicine. The grant allows students to enroll in PhD-level programs in precision medicine offered by the University of Edinburgh. The scholarship must be applied for by March 31, 2023.
A joint program between the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, the MRC Doctoral Training Program in Precision Medicine, is being offered. Precision medicine is a cutting-edge method for diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases that use genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors to determine the best course of action for each patient. It fuses information from different clinical samples with individual genetics, electronic records, imaging, and other data-rich characteristics to facilitate research and customized treatments.
There is a huge need for scientists who are skilled in cutting-edge methods for evaluating genetic and genomic data as well as those who can create and apply analytical procedures to enhance health and wellbeing. The program’s goal is to develop the next generation of research leaders who have a strong foundation in biomedical and informatics technologies, can dissect disease causes, and create novel treatments.
Modern training in informatics, data analytics, genetics, genomics, epidemiology, clinical populations, clinical tissue, liquid biopsy interrogation, and molecular pathology will be offered to students through this curriculum. As biomedical science embraces new data-rich opportunities, it will also teach students how to develop quantitative research creativity for application in fast-moving disciplines.
The program is exceptional because it provides a Ph.D. with integrated study, cutting-edge instruction in both medicine and computation, and extensive data assets derived from the infrastructure and facilities within the top-tier training environments offered by the three partners, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Karolinska. The University of Edinburgh has a long-standing strategic commitment to the idea of one medicine/one health and is a global leader in basic-to-clinical translational research. It will keep taking the lead globally in research that advances both human and animal health as well as food security.
