Requirements Criteria for Scholarship:
General Requirements:
- Not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (and haven’t applied for permanent residence).
- Not a previous recipient of the Quebec Merit Scholarship for Foreign Students (MEES).
Specific Requirements by Scholarship Type:
- Master’s Research:
- Enrolled in a research-based master’s program with a thesis.
- Completed no more than three semesters (one year) of your master’s program by May 1, 2025.
- Doctoral Research:
- Within the first nine semesters of your doctoral program (excluding any previously funded semesters).
- Students entering a PhD directly from a bachelor’s program (without a master’s thesis) can apply for semesters 7-15 but may be eligible for a master’s research scholarship first.
- Postdoctoral:
- Received your PhD within the past two years or submitted your thesis by January 15, 2024.
- Postdoctoral research must be conducted at a different institution than your PhD.
- Short-Term Research/Development:
- Option A: Technical or university student.
- Option B: Researcher with a PhD completed within the past five years.
- Short-term research must be conducted at a different institution than your current enrollment.
Exceptions:
- Extensions may be granted for maternity/parental leave (up to 12 months) with proper justification.
How to Apply for Scholarship:
Step 1: University Preselection
- Internal Deadline: July 15, 2024
- Contact Your Department: Reach out to the relevant department at your chosen Quebec university to initiate the application process.
- Prepare Your Documents: Typically required documents include:
- Completed application form
- Copy of your valid passport or citizenship documentation
- Letter from your department director confirming your eligibility for the scholarship
