International JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023 in Japan

International JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023 in Japan

For international students, JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023 are now available. The fellowship enables students to enroll in Fellowship-level science courses offered by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. The scholarship application date is January 12, 2023.

The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) is an independent administrative organization in Japan that was founded with the goal of advancing science across all disciplines of the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Researchers from Switzerland can travel to Japan for 12 to 24 months thanks to the JSPS program. The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science’s Postdoctoral Fellowships has been nominated by the SNSF for a number of years (JSPS).

Applications for researchers who are interested in the fellowships must be submitted by January 12, 2023. The applicable requirements must be taken into account and the forms provided by the JSPS must be used for this purpose. The completed forms must be emailed as a scanned attachment to international@snf.ch together with any required enclosures. The applications nominated by the SNSF will be evaluated by the JSPS following SNSF evaluation, and the candidates will be notified of the funding decision by spring or summer 2023. The chosen researchers must begin their stays no later than November 30, 2023.

Scholarship Benefits:

The Awards have the following dollar amounts. They could vary due to financial constraints.
(1) Airfare: A round-trip airline ticket (in accordance with JSPS guidelines)

(2) Maintenance Allowance: 362,000 per month.

(3) Miscellaneous: A settling-in allowance of 200,000 and international travel insurance.

Note 1: A “settling-in allowance” will not be given to the candidate who has been residing in Japan (and has a mailing address) prior to the commencement of the fellowship; instead, just the cost of the return journey will be covered.

Note 2: Cooperative research-related costs may be covered by a Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Research Fellows). The host researcher submits an application for this funding via his or her institution. See the Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Research Fellows application criteria for more information.
